La Liga salary limit causes a real headache for Barcelona. There is little prospect of a new signing but all efforts are focused on scoring the new contracts of Gavi, Iñaki Pena and, above all, Araujo.
The absolute priority in Barcelona now is that of the Uruguayan defender and it will now take place with complete probability or certainty before June 30 to prevent his departure.
Araujo renewed his contract a few months ago with a huge salary increase that rewarded his performances at the Blaugrana club. Like Javi, the centre-back has accepted Barcelona’s economic conditions, rejecting superior offers to leave because his desire was to succeed at the Camp Nou.
After months of agreement on renewal between Araujo’s agents and the club, Barcelona has not yet been able to register this new contract to make it valid in La Liga.
Araujo’s position did not go unnoticed in the market and many teams were interested in following the events, as the player could be released next June, and without a doubt, he is the central defender who has made the most progress in the European market.
Barcelona knows that but there is peace of mind, firstly, because there are chances that this contract will already be registered in January, and if not, it will be confirmed before June 30th. Moreover, the player has no intention of leaving Barcelona as he has already sacrificed a lot to keep going.
Barcelona’s idea is to accelerate so that this becomes a reality in the coming days. And in the club they see options that may be next week. Work is also underway with Gavi and Inaki Pena and it is likely that both contracts will be registered as well.
Who will have to wait a little longer is Alejandro Balde, with a renewal already agreed but the contract will be valid before June 30th.
