Ruud Gullit, the Dutch football legend and former Chelsea player, confirmed on “Ziggo Sport” that he really wanted to sign Hakim Ziyech for Barcelona.
The Moroccan player, according to Sport newspaper, offered himself to FC Barcelona in the past few hours to be a substitute for Memphis Depay. The winger does not have many opportunities to play at Stamford Bridge despite his exceptional World Cup in Qatar and wants to take advantage of the winter transfer market to change his destination.
Ruud Gullit said: “I have never seen Ziyash play for Chelsea like he did in Morocco. He was placed at Chelsea in positions that did not suit him. He just needs to play on the right wing to get his best form back.”
He added, “I think in La Liga it will be the same again. I got the impression that in England he never reached the level he showed at Ajax. I would like to see him in Spain. He would fit perfectly in Barcelona.”
Hakim Ziyech has always loved Camp Nou. In fact, this is the third time the player has been in Barcelona’s orbit. In 2020, before Chelsea paid Ajax €40m for his transfer, Barcelona had already put it on their agenda.
