Rivaldo warns Barcelona against selling three players: “It will be a great disappointment”

Brazilian soccer legend, Rivaldo, described Barcelona’s decision to sell three of its players as disappointing. As the team that won the Spanish Super Cup recently seeks to balance its accounts and reduce its wage bill in order to keep pace with the Law of Financial Fair Play in La Liga.

Barcelona leads the La Liga standings, three points behind its nearest rivals, Real Madrid, and recently crowned the Spanish Super Cup at the expense of its arch-rivals, but the early exit from the Champions League dealt a heavy blow to the project that Laporta started on the sporting and financial levels.

The Barcelona administration is said to be exploring the possibility of selling Raphinha, Fati and Torres due to their financial crisis.

Their transfer will help Xavi Hernandez’s side settle their remaining financial problems but Rivaldo feels the move will continue to hurt the club.

“Selling a player of Raphinha’s quality just six months after signing him would make me very disappointed,” the Brazilian soccer star told Betfair.

He added, “It will give a signal to other players that they may want to think twice before deciding to join Barcelona in the future.”

And he continued: “With Ansu Fati, it would be more mysterious given that he was seen as the successor to Lionel Messi for a while and to abandon him, that would come as a shock to me.”

And he concluded: “The club needs to keep its best players …”
